Polymer Modified Bitumen PMB 25/55 for Africa
PMB 25/55 for Africa is a Polymer Modified Bitumen grade for heavy-traffic pavements. It has a nominal penetration range of 25 to 55 (0.1 mm) at 25 °C, tested according to EN 1426 within the EN 14023 specification framework. Polymer modification can improve resistance to permanent deformation while maintaining flexibility, depending on the formulation and the complete grade designation.
Tiger Bitumen, a brand owned by HY International Group, supplies PMB 25/55 for road and airport projects across Africa. Before ordering, confirm the complete designation and applicable requirements in your project specification. This helps align the supplied binder with the intended pavement application.

Ordering and Grade Designation
The 25/55 designation identifies a penetration range rather than every performance requirement of the finished binder. Therefore, use the complete EN 14023 designation and the relevant project specification when requesting a quotation. Share the required softening-point class and other specified properties so the grade requirements can be checked before order confirmation.
Typical Applications
PMB 25/55 may suit asphalt mixtures designed for demanding traffic loads. However, the complete grade designation and mix design determine whether it is appropriate for a specific project.
- Highways and other heavily trafficked roads
- Airport pavements, subject to the project specification
- Other high-load applications requiring a relatively stiff modified binder
Comparing PMB Grades
Penetration values help distinguish PMB grades, although they do not describe every performance characteristic. For example, PMB 10/40 has a lower penetration range, while PMB 45/80 has a higher range. The appropriate option depends on the complete specification and intended application.
If your project requires an unmodified binder instead, explore our Penetration Bitumen grades.
Packing, Shipping and Documentation
- Packing: New steel drums are the main packing option for PMB 25/55. Where required, 1 metric ton (1,000 kg) PP woven bags in a steel cage may be available, subject to confirmation for the grade and order.
- Shipping: Orders are packed in the Karachi Export Processing Zone, near Port Qasim and Karachi Port, for container shipment to African ports. See our Bitumen Drum Packing information.
- Documents: The order documentation includes a grade-specific Technical Data Sheet and a shipment Certificate of Analysis, subject to confirmation with the order.
- Inspection: SGS or Bureau Veritas inspection can be arranged when agreed with the buyer.
