PMB 200/300

Polymer Modified Bitumen PMB 200/300 for Africa

PMB 200/300 for Africa is a very soft grade in the Polymer Modified Bitumen range. It has a nominal penetration range of 200 to 300 (0.1 mm) at 25 °C, measured according to EN 1426. Polymer modification can help improve binder performance; however, the complete grade designation and project requirements determine its suitability for a specific application.

Tiger Bitumen, a brand owned by HY International Group, supplies PMB 200/300 for African projects that specify this penetration range. Before ordering, confirm the required softening-point class and other properties in the project specification.

Tiger Brand Polymer Modified Bitumen 200/300 Specifications

Polymer Modified Bitumen 200/300
Property Specifications Test Method
Penetration at 25 °C (0.1 mm) 200–300 EN 1426
The 200/300 designation identifies the penetration range only. Under EN 14023, the complete grade designation also specifies a minimum softening-point class. The required class depends on the project specification and must be confirmed before ordering. The applicable properties should be documented in the grade-specific Technical Data Sheet and shipment Certificate of Analysis.

Applications and Project Suitability

PMB 200/300 provides a very soft penetration range within the grades discussed here. It may be considered for applications that require a soft modified binder. However, climate alone does not determine whether this grade is suitable for an African road project. The pavement design, complete EN 14023 designation, and project specification must guide the selection.

Comparing the Hardest and Softest Penetration Ranges

  • PMB 10/40: has a penetration range of 10 to 40 and represents the harder end of this comparison. Its suitability depends on the required grade class and pavement specification.
  • PMB 200/300: has a penetration range of 200 to 300 and represents the softer end of this comparison. Confirm its complete grade designation against the intended application.

Other grades fall between these penetration ranges. For a firmer alternative to PMB 200/300, review PMB 120/200 and compare the complete specifications before selecting a grade.

Packing, Documentation and Shipment

Tiger Bitumen packs PMB 200/300 in new steel drums at its facility in the Karachi Export Processing Zone, near Port Qasim and Karachi Port. Where the order and grade permit, the company can also confirm the availability of 1-metric-ton (1,000 kg) PP woven bags in a steel cage.

Before dispatch, the shipment documentation can include:

  • A PMB 200/300-specific Technical Data Sheet.
  • A shipment-specific Certificate of Analysis.

SGS or Bureau Veritas inspection can also be arranged when required and agreed for the order. The cargo can then ship by container to the nominated African port. For packaging details, visit Bitumen Drum Packing.
